Hollow (poem)

Hollow

Morning breaks peaceful slumber
skin is cold, reality frost bite
Truth, mixed with pain,
dreams left with night

Innocent youth has died,
ashes, dust become dust
What was once called love
reveals to only be lust

Lost in your sea of lies,
my ship held course
fought the tidal wave,
bow broken in divorce

I'm not the man I was
you're not who I saw
I'm not the man I am
suffering withdraw

Time stops to squeeze
Looking for a face
Emotion, desire, warmth,
something I cannot replace

Days bleed, dark kills
I want to hold the lie
forget now, become naive
we never said goodbye

I cannot hate you
not then, not now.
You cannot love me
not then, not now.
