I know I'm not alone when I say it feels like we are drowning in mass-produced, emo-laden Celtic music. You can't touch the radio dial without stepping in the mess. Well, I have found the answer - a source of Celtic tunes that brings back that feeling of hard whiskey in the back of your throat, the urge to dance naked on the bar while yelling lines of an old nursery rhyme, and starting a fight with a guy because... he was there.
Fiona Ritchie hits the NPR air waves every Saturday and plays only the best Celtic music on "Thistle & Shamrock." There is also a podcast, Thistlepod, for your "at work" time. Fiona keeps playlists of all the music played for each show, though you may have to look outside of the mainstream shops/sites to locate the CDs.
Go get your Sham-Rock on!
