DragonCon: Day 4

Well, back home now.  I didn't carry my camera with me the last day, so there are no new photos, but all the photos of the previous days are uploaded, and titles set.  The day's recap:

  • The morning went slow, as we took our time packing and making plans for the day to get out of Atlanta without issue.
  • Around lunch, we went to the Quick Sketch Competition.  You get thirty minutes to draw either one character in detail, or a comic book page.  We both opted for the comic book page (myself being forced to participate, despite protesting that I have no talent).
  • We went though the art gallery again, and the dealer exhibits.  I found nothing worth buying, even though I have $45 left on my budget to spend.  Maybe it's a sign of age, but I found things overpriced and nothing special I couldn't get elsewhere.  The exception to this is some of the art work; I hope next year I can afford to acquire a few pieces.  $45 doesn't get you much art.
  • The last panel we went to was put on by Tracy Cornett of Fantastical Photography.  Some of her photographs, which fall in the surreal photography genre, appear on elfwood and she was well known among those in attendance.  The presentation was great with Tracy going over her photos and telling her secrets.  Apparently you can order dead bats on eBay, and this is helpful.
  • On the way out, we stepped in to see the last battle of the battle bots competition.  Six bots were in the ring and went at it battle royal style.  Most of the bots lost by being pushed out of the ring, a few fell out on their own, and it locked in a stalemate with two remaining.  The MC, an Elvis impersonator, stepped in the ring to "unstuck" one of the bots so it could knock the other out.

Thus ends my time at DragonCon.
