A day later...

Well, it's impressive what can happen in 24 hours.  I had planned to blog about last nights meetup, and the fact we failed to manage a podcast.  Even had a catchy title, Supreme Court Decision: KnoxBlogger v. Murphy.  Perry has the coverage (including citing Vernon Sanders Law).  The content of the night's meeting will be forth coming when Victor has a chance to give us a top ten list - and we know how bloggers love top ten lists.  I'll be chipping in later as well, with more ViNull information and the direction of my site.

Plans changed after a very interesting day.  At work a presentation was given on SEO or search engine optimization by some fellow developers who were lucky enough to attend a convention on the very subject.  Most of what was covered, I knew.  When I worked at a small web design company, SEO was a hot topic - so much so we had one person dedicated to it for our clients.  I spent some time with him picking his brain, learning this dark art.  At the end of the presentation, when questions and comments were being offered, I spoke up and mentioned some of the things I learned at the blogger's meetup, and how they might apply to the company.

Later, as I was securing a copy of a book recommended in the presentation (Waiting for Your Cat to Bark?), the CEO said to me, "I want you to email everything you just said to me."  There is only one answer you can give in that situation. "Yes, as soon as I get back to my desk."  The day led to a series of forwards among Execs and VPs, and talks of future meetings.

So what is the moral?  Attend the KnoxBlogger's meetup and you'll get to advise CEOs on Internet marketing.*

Today, SEO. Tomorrow, world domination. Muwhahahahaa.

On another note, are your amazon ads targeted to me based on my being logged in or are they things you specify? B/c one of my favorite books is on there along with a few things that seem more distinctly Mike-ish.

Are you planning to convert all the stuff you sent the CEO about SEO into a post here? If not, may I suggest that you do so, please?

As you note above "bloggers love top ten lists," so maybe you could distill the ten most essential actions we bloggers need to take with respect to SEO into a blog post. I know I would find it interesting and informative, and I'd guess others would too.

I'm not sure how much I can or should post - I left out many details above for that reason. I would love for this to develop into something exciting that I'm a part of, and having the CEO learn marketing plans were posted to a blog may hinder that slightly. In short, we'll see as things go on...

Daryl, I'm afraid you going to have to admit those "Mike-ish" things are things you want as well. Amazon sniffs for amazon's cookie, and uses your history with amazon to target ads - it has nothing to do with my content. It's the same as your "amazon recommends" page.

Wow, I didn't remember ever browsing to the Real Doll, so I assumed it was yours. ;)
