Good Gawd, Good Fries!

Petro's has always been a "guilty pleasure" of mine.  If you're not from Tennessee you may have never heard of the chain, but they started at the 1982 World's Fair, which was held in Knoxville, TN.  A petro is really nothing more than a Frito Pie, but they are also popular for really good loaded baked potatoes and I've always enjoyed the marinated cucumbers - they are a perfect pallet cleanser.

Today when I dropped by I saw a new item: fresh cut fries.  Fries made by - get this - cutting a potatoes right at the restaurant!  I couldn't resist, and ordered some with my petro.  These are the real deal: homemade fries.  They are cut thick (but not as thick as steak fries) to support a solid layer of toppings, but even straight they are excellent.
