The iPhone has been out for a few weeks.  There was no massive sellouts and apple freaks waited in lines overnight only to be told it will take a while to activate their phone.

The Jobs' Juice is powerful.  Reviews, filled with negatives and downsides, still end up recommending the iPhone at the end.  Still, even the Jobs' Juice has limits.  The amazing interface has already been ported to Windows Mobile - the iPhone has already been hacked - and it, along with all other cell phones, are already being banned.

I really don't understand the appeal of Apple, and it's not just their sloppy naming that bugs me.  Apple builds lock-in services and devices.  iPod locks you into iTunes, OSX locks you into Apple hardware (and Apple fees for updates), the iPhone locks you to not only AT&T, but Apple approved software as well.  Sure, their are hacks to get around these - as long as you don't mind voiding the warranty of a $600 version 1.0 gadget.  If this isn't enough lock in for you, they have more planned.

Apple has a history of poor customer service - from iPod batteries to MacBook Pros.  In every case Apple tries to deny any fault until they start getting too much bad PR.  Yet, still they line up for an iPhone.

I don't get it.  Oh well, at least I'm not impotent.

Although I completely agree, I have to admit that the concept behind and the IPhone is pretty sweet. I usually don't fall for the "flashy" stuff, but it is a nice layout / design. It is all the other apple-baggage combined w/ it being the first release that pulls it under. I think we will see alot of products mimick the IPhone but not suffer from its limitations.
